The Turpin Tyme Ragsters

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

The TurpinTyme Ragsters are a 7-piece ragtime music ensemble based in Kansas City – turning the clocks back, musically, to an era of ceiling fans, ice cream socials, and Sunday concerts in the park. Their repertoire reflects the diversity of music from "turn of the century" America, including songs like Dill Pickles, The Entertainer, Creole Belles, Razzamazza, Kansas City Rag, Easy Winners, The Chrysanthemum, Peaceful Henry, 12th Street Rag, and, Ragtime Dance. The Ragsters were formed in 1993 with a desire to play a unique style of music. Since the Mid-West in the early 1900s was a virtual "hot bed" of ragtime activity from Kansas City to Sedalia to St. Louis, the Ragsters say, “We knew we were on the right track.”

Simply stated, performing the music of Scott Joplin, James Scott, Charles Johnson, Joseph Lamb, Eubie Blake and their namesake Tom Turpin, makes them happy!

Ronald Radford

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

This brilliant American Flamenco virtuoso has evoked standing ovations on four continents. He has been acclaimed in Mexico City for performances “equal to those on any Flamenco stage in Madrid, Seville or Andalusia.” His Carnegie Recital Hall and Kennedy Center concerts were enthusiastically received, but perhaps the highest tribute comes from Madrid: “He has duende, the Spanish equivalent of soul!”

His repertoire appeals to everyone's tastes. His audiences include fans of Jazz, Bluegrass, and the classics. Flamenco is an art that has something for everyone - from haunting Gypsy melodies to fiery Spanish dance rhythms. This performance will have everyone shouting, "Ole!"

Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Founded in 1919, the Lombardo Orchestra is the longest running act in show business history, with over 500 hit songs to its credit – more than any other musical organization. After the 1977 death of Guy Lombardo, his world-renowned orchestra fell silent for more than a decade. In 1989 the legend was revived as Al Pierson of Big Band USA was given the opportunity to rejuvenate the styles and musical library of the dormant Lombardo Orchestra. For nearly 15 years, Al Pierson and his Big Band USA toured the world, playing nearly 300 engagements annually.

Today, Al Pierson and the Lombardo Orchestra still treat audiences to wonderful tunes such as Seems Like Old Times, Boo Hoo, Sweethearts on Parade, Johnson Rag, Bye Bye Blues, Enjoy Yourself, Ain’t She Sweet, and many more.
